DEXMA: Key contributor to ENOPTUS project

DEXMA is a key contributor to the ENOPTUS project: promoting demand management through the control and optimisation of manageable loads in the tertiary sector


In accordance with DEXMA’s research and innovation strategy, DEXMA has launched a new R&D project called ENOPTUS (advanced solution for real-time energy load management and optimisation of PV resources). Through this project, participants aim to help energy managers take their first steps toward demand-side management, also known as load management through control applications and predictive methods, both experiencing unprecedented growth.

Demand Side Management: The Future of Energy Innovation

In modern building management, the acquisition and monitoring of submeter data at strategic points is undergoing a transformation towards load control.

Following this trend, a new market need has emerged: mechanisms that allow for the management and control of different loads (HVAC, battery storage, lighting, electric vehicles …) combined with the ability to leverage solar resources, thereby uniting the concept of NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings) with that of energy management.

Currently, no solution on the EMS (Energy Management System) market allows building owners or facility managers to take action or control loads in an easily installable and intuitive way. At the moment, the energy management software market is divided into specialised equipment manufacturers and software suppliers that, despite being increasingly oriented towards IoT, still lack a SaaS + hardware energy optimisation package similar to that which will result from the ENOPTUS project.

The ENOPTUS Project Consortium

This ambitious project will be carried out by a multidisciplinary consortium spearheaded by ENEM (a Slovenian company specialising in energy automation R&D, owned by parent company Iskra), who will provide the ENOPTUS project with specific know-how in hardware energy optimisation enabling the automatic control of different load types.

DEXMA will provide its flagship energy management software, DEXCell Energy Manager (a platform used by more than 1,500 end customers in 40 countries), as the platform on top of which the resulting ENOPTUS tool will be implemented. The final product will allow for both control and prediction of different loads (batteries, air conditioning systems, electric vehicles).

COMSA is a large company specialised in the infrastructure, services, and engineering systems sector with a target market in integrated photovoltaic energy (BIPV). Their role is to define and consolidate the technical and market requirements of the ENOPTUS solution.

The main objective of the ENOPTUS project is to develop a smart system that can help energy managers automate and optimise the savings process through the management of PV production (solar energy generation) focused on nearly zero energy buildings (NZEB) and the control of manageable loads. This system will unlock the hidden savings potential within small industries and tertiary sector buildings, most of them lacking of energy management systems to analyse and control their energy spent.

This project is financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) through the Interempresas Internacional Program as well as the Ministrstvo za Gospodarski Razvoj in Tehnologijo in Slovenia, as part of the Eureka-Eurostars-2 call for projects.

Through the Interempresas Internacional Program, the EUROSTARS-2 Program has been incorporated into the CDTI portfolio to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that carry out research and development activities.

The main objective of the program is to promote research activities, increase the accessibility, efficiency and effectiveness of public financing and to encourage the participation of SMEs without previous experience in the field of transnational research.
